**Machine-Readable JSON Dataset**: https://easyquran.io/surah-data/56.json - **Reciter**: Sheikh Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy - **Script**: Authentic Uthmanic Arabic Script (Hafs 'an 'Asim) - **English Translation**: Saheeh International (100+ additional languages available on the interactive web reader) ## Complete Quran Text & English Translation (96 Verses) ### Verse 56:1 إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ When the Occurrence occurs ### Verse 56:2 لَيۡسَ لِوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ There is, at its occurrence, no denial ### Verse 56:3 خَافِضَةࣱ رَّافِعَةٌ It will bring down [some] and raise up [others] ### Verse 56:4 إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ رَجࣰّ ا When the earth is shaken with convulsion ### Verse 56:5 وَبُسَّتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ بَسࣰّ ا And the mountains are broken down, crumbling ### Verse 56:6 فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءࣰ مُّنۢبَثࣰّ ا And become dust dispersing ### Verse 56:7 وَكُنتُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجࣰ ا ثَلَٰثَةࣰ‏ And you become [of] three kinds ### Verse 56:8 فَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right ### Verse 56:9 وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left ### Verse 56:10 وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ And the forerunners, the forerunners ### Verse 56:11 أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] ### Verse 56:12 فِي جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ In the Gardens of Pleasure ### Verse 56:13 ثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ A [large] company of the former peoples ### Verse 56:14 وَقَلِيلࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ And a few of the later peoples ### Verse 56:15 عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مَّوۡضُونَةࣲ‏ On thrones woven [with ornament] ### Verse 56:16 مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ Reclining on them, facing each other ### Verse 56:17 يَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَٰنࣱ مُّخَلَّدُونَ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal ### Verse 56:18 بِأَكۡوَابࣲ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأۡسࣲ مِّن مَّعِينࣲ‏ With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring ### Verse 56:19 لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنۡهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated ### Verse 56:20 وَفَٰكِهَةࣲ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ And fruit of what they select ### Verse 56:21 وَلَحۡمِ طَيۡرࣲ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire ### Verse 56:22 وَحُورٌ عِينࣱ‏ And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes ### Verse 56:23 كَأَمۡثَٰلِ ٱللُّؤۡلُوِٕ ٱلۡمَكۡنُونِ The likenesses of pearls well-protected ### Verse 56:24 جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ As reward for what they used to do ### Verse 56:25 لَا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوࣰ ا وَلَا تَأۡثِيمًا They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin ### Verse 56:26 إِلَّا قِيلࣰ ا سَلَٰمࣰ ا سَلَٰمࣰ ا Only a saying: "Peace, peace ### Verse 56:27 وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡيَمِينِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡيَمِينِ The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right ### Verse 56:28 فِي سِدۡرࣲ مَّخۡضُودࣲ‏ [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed ### Verse 56:29 وَطَلۡحࣲ مَّنضُودࣲ‏ And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] ### Verse 56:30 وَظِلࣲّ مَّمۡدُودࣲ‏ And shade extended ### Verse 56:31 وَمَآءࣲ مَّسۡكُوبࣲ‏ And water poured out ### Verse 56:32 وَفَٰكِهَةࣲ كَثِيرَةࣲ‏ And fruit, abundant [and varied] ### Verse 56:33 لَّا مَقۡطُوعَةࣲ وَلَا مَمۡنُوعَةࣲ‏ Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden ### Verse 56:34 وَفُرُشࣲ مَّرۡفُوعَةٍ And [upon] beds raised high ### Verse 56:35 إِنَّآ أَنشَأۡنَٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءࣰ‏ Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation ### Verse 56:36 فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُنَّ أَبۡكَارًا And made them virgins ### Verse 56:37 عُرُبًا أَتۡرَابࣰ ا Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age ### Verse 56:38 لِّأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ For the companions of the right [who are] ### Verse 56:39 ثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ A company of the former peoples ### Verse 56:40 وَثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ And a company of the later peoples ### Verse 56:41 وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left ### Verse 56:42 فِي سَمُومࣲ وَحَمِيمࣲ‏ [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water ### Verse 56:43 وَظِلࣲّ مِّن يَحۡمُومࣲ‏ And a shade of black smoke ### Verse 56:44 لَّا بَارِدࣲ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ Neither cool nor beneficial ### Verse 56:45 إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَبۡلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتۡرَفِينَ Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence ### Verse 56:46 وَكَانُواْ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلۡحِنثِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ And they used to persist in the great violation ### Verse 56:47 وَكَانُواْ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰ ا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected ### Verse 56:48 أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ And our forefathers [as well] ### Verse 56:49 قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples ### Verse 56:50 لَمَجۡمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَٰتِ يَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ‏ Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day ### Verse 56:51 ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمۡ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبُونَ Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers ### Verse 56:52 لَأٓكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرࣲ مِّن زَقُّومࣲ‏ Will be eating from trees of zaqqum ### Verse 56:53 فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ And filling with it your bellies ### Verse 56:54 فَشَٰرِبُونَ عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ ٱلۡحَمِيمِ And drinking on top of it from scalding water ### Verse 56:55 فَشَٰرِبُونَ شُرۡبَ ٱلۡهِيمِ And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels ### Verse 56:56 هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense ### Verse 56:57 نَحۡنُ خَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ فَلَوۡلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ We have created you, so why do you not believe ### Verse 56:58 أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا تُمۡنُونَ Have you seen that which you emit ### Verse 56:59 ءَأَنتُمۡ تَخۡلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقُونَ Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator ### Verse 56:60 نَحۡنُ قَدَّرۡنَا بَيۡنَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَسۡبُوقِينَ We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone ### Verse 56:61 عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمۡثَٰلَكُمۡ وَنُنشِئَكُمۡ فِي مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know ### Verse 56:62 وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتُمُ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ فَلَوۡلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember ### Verse 56:63 أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا تَحۡرُثُونَ And have you seen that [seed] which you sow ### Verse 56:64 ءَأَنتُمۡ تَزۡرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower ### Verse 56:65 لَوۡ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ حُطَٰمࣰ ا فَظَلۡتُمۡ تَفَكَّهُونَ If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder ### Verse 56:66 إِنَّا لَمُغۡرَمُونَ [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt ### Verse 56:67 بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُومُونَ Rather, we have been deprived ### Verse 56:68 أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَآءَ ٱلَّذِي تَشۡرَبُونَ And have you seen the water that you drink ### Verse 56:69 ءَأَنتُمۡ أَنزَلۡتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُزۡنِ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُنزِلُونَ Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down ### Verse 56:70 لَوۡ نَشَآءُ جَعَلۡنَٰهُ أُجَاجࣰ ا فَلَوۡلَا تَشۡكُرُونَ If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful ### Verse 56:71 أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِي تُورُونَ And have you seen the fire that you ignite ### Verse 56:72 ءَأَنتُمۡ أَنشَأۡتُمۡ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُنشِـُٔونَ Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer ### Verse 56:73 نَحۡنُ جَعَلۡنَٰهَا تَذۡكِرَةࣰ وَمَتَٰعࣰ ا لِّلۡمُقۡوِينَ We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers ### Verse 56:74 فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great ### Verse 56:75 ۞فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ Then I swear by the setting of the stars ### Verse 56:76 وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمࣱ لَّوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great ### Verse 56:77 إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرۡءَانࣱ كَرِيمࣱ‏ Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an ### Verse 56:78 فِي كِتَٰبࣲ مَّكۡنُونࣲ‏ In a Register well-protected ### Verse 56:79 لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُطَهَّرُونَ None touch it except the purified ### Verse 56:80 تَنزِيلࣱ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ [It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds ### Verse 56:81 أَفَبِهَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدۡهِنُونَ Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent ### Verse 56:82 وَتَجۡعَلُونَ رِزۡقَكُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ تُكَذِّبُونَ And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider] ### Verse 56:83 فَلَوۡلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلۡحُلۡقُومَ Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat ### Verse 56:84 وَأَنتُمۡ حِينَئِذࣲ تَنظُرُونَ And you are at that time looking on ### Verse 56:85 وَنَحۡنُ أَقۡرَبُ إِلَيۡهِ مِنكُمۡ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبۡصِرُونَ And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see ### Verse 56:86 فَلَوۡلَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ غَيۡرَ مَدِينِينَ Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed ### Verse 56:87 تَرۡجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ Bring it back, if you should be truthful ### Verse 56:88 فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِينَ And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah ### Verse 56:89 فَرَوۡحࣱ وَرَيۡحَانࣱ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمࣲ‏ Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure ### Verse 56:90 وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنۡ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ And if he was of the companions of the right ### Verse 56:91 فَسَلَٰمࣱ لَّكَ مِنۡ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right ### Verse 56:92 وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray ### Verse 56:93 فَنُزُلࣱ مِّنۡ حَمِيمࣲ‏ Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water ### Verse 56:94 وَتَصۡلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ And burning in Hellfire ### Verse 56:95 إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلۡيَقِينِ Indeed, this is the true certainty ### Verse 56:96 فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great
